Yemen Solar Panel Program Donate Fundraise Yemen is in the midst of a humanitarian and developmental crisis. With 24.1 million people – 80 per cent of the population, in need of humanitarian aid and protection, it is now the largest humanitarian crisis in the world (UNITED NATIONS) Welfare Aid is collaborating with local community members in Sydney, Australia, to raise funds and support HND's solar energy program project. HND is a Yemeni non-profit organisation situated in Sanaa, Yemen's capital. Aimed at assisting the poor and disenfranchised by providing necessities, such as food, water, education, and healthcare. The organisation intends to build skills and accredit young men from impoverished and disadvantaged Yemeni communities through the solar energy apprenticeship. The graduates will be able to offer their services including installing and maintaining solar systems as well as identifying and resolving any problems. These skills are crucial for Yemen, particularly now that the blockade and conflict have intensified, and most Sanaa homes are powered by solar energy.
