Iran has not been immune from the vast ranging economic impact of the Corona Virus shut down and it is the community that has been able to keep the people afloat.  Many people who rely on their daily work as labourers have simply lost their jobs and are unable to pay for essentials including basic medical care.

Welfare Aid Australia has partnered with Imam Murtaza Charity in Iran to provide such basic services.

Imam Murtaza Charity currently runs two medical clinics in Tehran, one a 4 storey building and the other a 5 storey building, and services those in poverty including those living in Iran who have had to migrate from Afghanistan and Iraq.  Those who can afford to pay for the service pay a discounted fee, while those who are not able to are offered the service free of charge.

The annual cost of running these services are approximately $45-50k AUD per year.

FAQ

How will your donation reach Iran?
WAI will send funds to Imam Murtaza Charity, a registered charity in the Iran.  Imam Murtaza Charity works across Iran to provide essential services and medical services and consists of a team of professionals including Medical Practitioners.

The charity receives the funds via secure and reliable channels, and provides medical services in two impoverished areas of Tehran, the capital city of Iran.

What about the sanctions?
While there are sanctions enforced on Iran, the lock building industry is still continuing to provide medicine from local producers.

Who is WAI?

WAI is a fully compliant, DGR eligible Australian charity. Your donations are tax deductible and we are a transparent charity meeting the ACNCs compliance requirements and reporting regularly to our donors. Donations to this project will be sent to Imam Murtaza Charity, a charity fully compliant and registered in the Iran.
